Functieomschrijving / Job description

The Aruba Tourism Authority is looking for a Digital Specialist at our European office in The Hague, Netherlands. As a Digital Specialist you will be given the freedom to make meaningful and measurable improvements to our digital marketing activities and support the marketing strategies of our regional offices that represent Aruba within the U.K., Italy, German-speaking countries, and Scandinavia.

Your role is to support the concept, strategy, creative (DTP), media buy, execution, analysis and optimizations of digital campaigns in Europe. Therefore, you will be managing the day-to-day communication with our agencies. Your daily activities vary greatly and you will be working closely with other internal units such as PR, sales and branding. This makes the position both challenging and engaging, it never gets boring! Your knowledge and experience on everything digital means that you have both excellent online marketing and technical IT skills.

You also consider yourself to be a hybrid, possessing creative and critical thinking skills. Recommending metrics for KPIs, conversion strategies and creatives are a non-issue. You also know a thing or two about algorithms, can hack something very quickly with jQuery, CSS, Photoshop, and PHP.

Functie-eisen / Skills & experience

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, a problem solver with the following key skills:

  • A minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years’ experience in similar fields, working on both the marketing and technical sides of digital.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch, as well as having an in-depth understanding of the Dutch online consumer and to a lesser extent the Flemish speaking parts of Belgium.
  • Experience in managing digital campaign budgets.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, proven commercial and industry acumen to develop effective (technical) solutions.
  • Knows how to influence a variety of audiences and can bring across findings to stakeholders that don’t have a background in IT or computer science.
  • Strong analytical background ideally within a global online environment.
  • Enjoys using data and possess strong quantitative and analytics skills.
  • Results driven & delivery focused.
  • Flexible and hands-on with no 9 to 5 mentality.
  • Good understanding of online, search, and social media marketing techniques.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and related skills.
  • Programming skills that include markup and scripting languages, and familiarity with UX design and CSS.
  • Knowledge of database management systems.
